Hotel and tourism

Hospitality and tourism are among the largest and fastest growing industries in the world! A degree in hotel and tourism management opens the door to outstanding employment opportunities in international management. During the degree students specialise in either revenue management or event management – both in high demand in the industry. Our students benefit from working in small supportive groups with dedicated teachers who bring a wealth of international academic and industry experience to the classroom. In this environment, our students develop personal and professional networks for life.

Research and community

Through their research and ties, our academics are closely connected to industry as well as the community.

Head of Hotel and Tourism Management, Dr Michael Raybould is frequently approached to take part in forums and conferences - recently speaking at the Marine Science Forum. He's been approached by the media to comment on topics like Beach and Surf Tourism and Recreation in Australia as well as beach erosion.

Dr Carmen Cox’s research focuses on how consumers and tourism organisations use social media and other user generated content in their travel planning and marketing approaches. Two key reports she published alongside her research colleagues include:

More recently, Dr Cox completed a study on Consumer Experiences of Accommodation Deals Purchased via Social Coupon Promotions: An Australian Perspective.

Advisory board

Close industry ties are critical to the program's success. To ensure industry relevance the Advisory Board acts to support the program, enhance the department’s public image and ensure industry best practice. Further, the board seeks to both facilitate and enable the achievement of the Faculty’s mission and objectives by lending their support, expertise and influence. The Board is also a great source of mentors for students and their extensive networks ensure our students are up-to-date with the industry’s latest trends. View the current Hotel and Tourism Board Members.

Student association

The spirit of collaboration and networking is embodied in the Hotel and Tourism Management Student Association – initiated and organised by the students for personal and professional development. Check out our Hotel and Tourism Student Association on Facebook to see what the students are involved in each semester or search #BondHotelMgt on Instagram or Twitter for photos of and from our students in the program.
