Student for a Semester

Calling all ambitious Year 11 and 12 students from Brisbane, Gold Coast and Northern NSW

Bond University’s Student for a Semester program gives high achieving year 11 and 12 students the opportunity to gain an authentic university experience before they finish high school.

Student for a Semester students enrol in a Bond University subject, attend lectures and tutorials on campus, complete assignments and sit their subject exams.

You’ll be mixing with uni students, meeting academics and getting involved in university life. You’re welcome to use the Main and Law Libraries, Multimedia Learning Centre, Sports Centre and can socialise in the on-campus cafes and restaurants.

You'll receive plenty of support from us, including access to Bond's Academic Skills Centre and your own Bond Student Mentor to help you enjoy every minute of your semester at Bond.

Students who successfully pass their Student for a Semester subject may also be able to gain credit towards your Bond University undergraduate degree (conditions apply).

What can I study?

Student for a Semester subjects cover a range of exciting topics and vary each semester. Many of the Student for a Semester subject tutorials are offered after school hours and early applicants will be given priority for these time slots. If your preferred subject conflicts with your school timetable, speak to your school before applying.

How to apply

1. Start your Online Application Form

Once applications have opened you can start your Online Application Form. Simply enter your details in the registration page, go to the Start an Application tab and enter 'Student for a Semester' in the keyword field and hit search. You can save your application and log in and out at anytime.

2. Select your chosen subject and your preferred class time

View the full list of available subject options and class times before completing this section of the application form.

3. Provide your school Career Advisor's details

 As part of the application you will be asked to provide their details so we can confirm your eligibility for the program.

4. Submit your completed application

Its important that you submit your completed Online Application Form prior to the application closing date.

Program FAQ's

Students who meet the following criteria should consider applying for the Student for a Semester Program:

  • Applicants must be currently studying Year 11 or 12 at an Australian High School.
  • Applicants must be in the top 30% of their year level at school, in order to participate. Your school Career Advisor will be asked to verify this during the application process.
  • Applicants must be able to attend on-campus classes in person each week for the duration of the semester. To review the full academic calendar, please visit the Academic Calendar page.

Make no mistake: This is a challenging program. You’ll have to find time for the extra classes and study on top of your school work – but if your parents and school agree that you are capable, then we highly recommend you apply.

Our Student for a Semester subjects are offered at the exclusive rate of $250 per subject.

Students may also need to purchase text books and other course materials.

The maximum number of subjects that can be completed as part of the Student for a Semester program is one. Please see our Student Handbook for further policies regarding this program.

Yes! Each semester we host an exclusive Student for a Semester Orientation which aims to introduce you to Bond, your academics, classmates and key support staff. You will be provided with further information once you have been offered a place in the program.
