Bachelor of Laws

Please see below information detailing the process for awarding the degree of Bachelor of Laws with Honours, based upon the commencement semester of the eligible student.

Students should refer to Clause 47 Degree of Bachelor of Laws with Honours within the Bond University Award Regulations. In summary:

Each Class of Honours is calculated based on results in all attempts at Bond Law subjects only.

Bachelor of Laws degrees are awarded with Honours according to the following scheme of classification:

Each Class of Honours is calculated based on:

Students may only enrol in LAWS13-569 Legal Research Project in their final or second last semester of their Bachelor of Laws program.

Students should only enrol in LAWS13-569 Legal Research Project if they are confident that they will achieve a cumulative percentage average in all of their Bond Law subjects of at least 70% by the time they complete the Bachelor of Laws program.

Students who do not complete and pass LAWS13-569 Legal Research Project will not be eligible to receive a degree of Bachelor of Laws with Honours.

Students who pass LAWS13-569 Legal Research Project but do not achieve a cumulative percentage average in all of their Bond Law subjects of at least 70% will not be entitled to receive Honours, although the subject will still count as a Law Elective towards their degree.

Bachelor of Laws degrees are awarded with Honours according to the following scheme of classification:

Legal Research Project Enrolment Procedure

  • Students must self-enrol into LAWS13-569 Legal Research Project via eStudent by Friday of Week 12 of the semester prior to their intended enrolment. As Faculty Approval is required, students must also request a Requisite Waiver at the time of enrolment, and
  • Students must submit a completed Legal Research Project Form to [email protected] by Friday of Week 12 of the semester prior to their intended enrolment.

Juris Doctor

Please see below information detailing the awarding of a Juris Doctor degree with Honours or a Juris Doctor degree with Distinction, based upon the commencement semester of the eligible student.

Students should refer to Clause 62 Degree of Juris Doctor with Honours or Distinction within the Bond University Award Regulations. In summary:

Each Class of Honours is calculated based on results in all attempts at Bond Law subjects only.

Juris Doctor degrees are awarded with Honours according to the following scheme of classification:

Class of Honours

Juris Doctor students who commenced from Semester 1, 2015, will not be eligible to receive a Juris Doctor with Honours. Instead they may be eligible to receive an a Juris Doctor with Distinction.

Each Class of Distinction is calculated based on results in all attempts at Bond Law subjects only.

Juris Doctor degrees are awarded with Distinction according to the following scheme of classification:
