Medical Program* Entry Assessment Table

Applicants for the Bond Medical Program will be assessed for academic merit on the criteria outlined in the following table.

Important notes:

  • The qualification/s used for assessment must have been undertaken within nine years immediately preceding the close of applications for the relevant application period.
  • Full Time Equivalent Study (FTE) - Applicants are required to contact their home institution to determine the amount of FTE that will be completed (and for which documented evidence can be provided) by the time applications close for the relevant application period.
  • Postgraduate programs where two-thirds or greater of the program is research/thesis based (for example, the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program, Master by Research program, or Honours by Research program) cannot be considered for academic assessment.

1. If your highest level of study completed is Year 12 and you have not completed a bachelor's degree:

AQF Level 6 Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree or below (complete and incomplete)

Year 12 results.

You must apply as an undergraduate applicant.

Undergraduate program (completed less than 1 year full-time equivalent)

Year 12 results.

You must apply as an undergraduate applicant.

Undergraduate program (completed between 1 year and 1.5 years full-time equivalent)

Combination (50% / 50%) of Year 12 results and GPA for incomplete undergraduate program.

You must apply as an undergraduate applicant.

Undergraduate program (completed greater than or equal to 1.5 years full-time equivalent)

GPA for incomplete undergraduate program only.

You must apply as an undergraduate applicant.

More than one incomplete undergraduate program

Completed a sum of less than 1-year full-time equivalent in all undergraduate programs. The basis of assessment will be Year 12 results.

Completed a sum of more than 1 year but less than 1.5 years full-time equivalent in all undergraduate programs. The basis of assessment will be a combination (50% / 50%) of Year 12 results and GPA for incomplete undergraduate programs.

Completed a sum of greater than or equal to 1.5 years full-time equivalent in all undergraduate programs. The basis of assessment will be the GPA for the incomplete undergraduate programs.

You must apply as an undergraduate applicant.

If your high school or incomplete tertiary qualifications were completed more than 9 years immediately preceding the close of applications, they cannot be considered for academic assessment. You will need to consider completing study (greater than or equal to 1.5 years full-time equivalent) in a recognised undergraduate program to attain a GPA for consideration.

 2. If your highest level of study completed is an undergraduate (Bachelor) degree:

GPA for completed undergraduate program.

Subsequent incomplete undergraduate program

Combined GPA for completed and incomplete undergraduate programs.

You must apply as a graduate applicant.

AQF Level 6 Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree or below (complete and incomplete)

GPA for completed undergraduate program only.

You must apply as a graduate applicant.

Subsequent incomplete Honours or any postgraduate coursework programs

Combined GPA based on all subjects results for completed undergraduate program and incomplete Honours/postgraduate programs.

You must apply as a graduate applicant.

If your undergraduate qualification is completed more than 9 years immediately preceding the close of applications, they cannot be considered for academic assessment. You need to complete one of the following to obtain a GPA that can be used to calculate a rank:

  1. Complete greater than or equal to 1.5 years full-time equivalent study in a recognised undergraduate program to attain a GPA for consideration; OR,
  2. Complete a minimum of 1-year full-time equivalent in an eligible postgraduate coursework program.

3. If your highest level of study completed is an Honours degree (completed 1-year full-time equivalent) program comprising more than one-third coursework and undertaken on completion of an undergraduate program:

Subsequent incomplete postgraduate coursework programs

 

GPA based on all subjects results for completed Honours and incomplete postgraduate programs.

You must apply as a graduate applicant.

If your Honours program is predominantly a research-based program (more than two-thirds research), we cannot use your Honours program GPA to calculate a rank.

4. If your highest level of study completed is a Graduate Certificate (completed <1-year FTE), we will use your combined GPA for the completed eligible coursework and Graduate Certificate programs. You must apply as a graduate applicant.

An eligible coursework program may be an undergraduate or postgraduate program that you have completed. Both the eligible coursework program and the Graduate Certificate programs must have been completed nomore than 9 years immediately preceding the close of applications to be used for rank calculation. The Graduate Certificate qualification alone will not be considered for rank calculation.

5. If your highest level of study completed is a Graduate Diploma or Master coursework program (completed 1 year or greater full-time equivalent):

GPA for the completed graduate diploma or master’s coursework program only.

Subsequent incomplete undergraduate or any postgraduate coursework program 

 

Combined GPA for all complete and incomplete programs.

Graduate Certificate (completed <1-year FTE)

Combined GPA for all complete and incomplete programs.

You must apply as a graduate applicant.

If your postgraduate qualification is completed more than 9 years immediately preceding the close of applications, they cannot be considered for academic assessment. You need to complete a minimum of 1-year full-time equivalent in an eligible postgraduate coursework program to attain a GPA that can be used to calculate a rank.

6. If you have more than one completed eligible program (undergraduate, graduate diploma or master by coursework program completed 1 year or greater full-time equivalent), we will use the GPA from the most recently completed eligible undergraduate, graduate diploma or master by coursework program to calculate your rank. You must apply as a graduate applicant.

7. If your highest level of study is a research-based postgraduate programs where two-third or greater of the program is research/thesis based, we will use your GPA from your highest completed eligible coursework qualification only. You must apply as a graduate applicant.

*The Medical Program is comprised of two sequential degrees – the Bachelor of Medical Studies (BMedSt) and the Doctor of Medicine (MD). All students selected for entry into the Medical Program will have to complete both the BMedSt and MD to be eligible for registration as a medical practitioner in any state or territory in Australia or New Zealand. Both degrees are awarded at the completion of Year 5.
