Research ethics

In Australia, researchers must gain approval from an accredited Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) before they can undertake any research involving human participants.

The Bond University Human Research Committee (BUHREC) is an accredited HREC that reviews and approves ethics applications periodically throughout the semester.

BUHREC can also help you translate the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research principles into pragmatic and workable strategies for ethically sound research.

For further information on how to apply research ethics principles to the ethical challenges that arise in research practice, see the Bond University Research Ethics Manual.

Animal studies

While the University has satisfied the registration requirements of Section 52 of the Animal Care Protection Act 2001 and is registered for the use of animals for scientific purposes, all research involving animals must have ethics approval from an external body. Please contact the Research Ethics Officer who will advise the necessary steps and processes required to complete an Animal Ethics application.
