Tackle real-world problems that matter right now with the Transformer, Bond University's new co-curricular program.
The Transformer Program
Do you see a problem that needs to be solved? Is there a better way of doing something? Do you want to make changes? Do you have a great idea for a new app, product or process?
Transformer provides an opportunity for you to work on a project of your own choosing, managing the process through the key stages from initial concept to implementation.
It could relate to social welfare, environmental issues, economic improvements, technology, health, sport, art, law – any project, big or small.
Working independently or in teams, you have the option of progressing through one, two or all three stages of:
where you will identify and define your concept, researching the core issues and existing solutions with a key emphasis on understanding potential users
where you will generate potential solutions and test the various options to develop a practical methodology based on real-life feedback
where you will develop a detailed plan for implementation and secure the required resources
At each phase of the program, you’ll have access to academic support, industry coaching, workshops, guest speaker presentations, events and resources. Those who continue on to Stages 2 and 3 will also benefit from a dedicated mentoring program, networking opportunities and potential funding.
Transformer is all about turning ideas into reality. Solving problems. Affecting change. It’s about transforming dreamers into doers.
The world’s most successful entrepreneurs know that change doesn’t happen by accident. It’s a process, a negotiation, a way of thinking … and it can be learnt.
Along the way, you’ll build key employability skills – communication, leadership, entrepreneurship, teamwork – that you can apply to every aspect of your life.
You’ll also learn how to:
- think big and be creative
- problem solve and focus on solutions
- make confident, evidence-based decisions
- be a team player – as a leader and a contributor
- work independently and set your own goals and timelines
- engage with academics, industry experts, stakeholders and potential end users
- project manage and take calculated risks.
Transformer is based on a ‘no pressure’ environment of self-directed learning. There are no assignments, no tests and no exams. But there’s still plenty of work to be done and it all counts.
At the end of each stage, you’ll be required to submit a written report, presentation and / or implementation plan and attend an exit interview.
Your completion of each stage will then be acknowledged on your Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement.
The starting date and duration of each stage is flexible and participants can set their own workload, depending on time availability. As an indication, it should take at least one semester to complete each stage.

Collaboration. Conversation. Inspiration.
Opened in May 2017, Bond Business School’s new state-of-the-art facilities incorporate a dynamic co-working space, dedicated to the Transformer program.
Designed around the concept of ‘accelerated serendipity’, it features a series of zones where chance encounters transform into productive discussions, brainstorming sessions and planning meetings.
A casual conversation at the coffee machine, for instance, can get down to business at the adjacent bench-desk or around the whiteboard in the lounge area.
Breakout rooms can be adjusted for large, small or multiple meetings, or you can take it outside to the landscaped garden courtyard.
International World's Challenge Challenge
Bond University is proud to be a partner of the 2018 International World's Challenge Challenge.
Teams of 3 students will prepare a 5-7 minute presentation on how they would solve a major global issue.
The winning team, selected by a panel of academic and community leaders, will be flown to Canada for the international final at Western University in June 2018.
