3 new places to fuel your body at Bond

New semesters at Bond mean new and exciting opportunities for students to thrive. So, what are some of the most essential elements to help you thrive? Energy from food and drinks, of course! When I returned to campus for the September semester, I was delighted to find some new foodie treasures. Like any good on-campus correspondent, I did some digging and talked to the Food at Bond team to find out exactly what has changed.

Get your greens in at the Juice Bar (7.30am-2.30pm)

Current Bondies may have noticed that the Juice Bar has moved locations from inside Lakeside to outdoors next to Bond Express. With the change of location comes a brand-new look, including a feature wall painted by the talented Jaque who you can often meet working at the Juice Bar.

If you are unfamiliar with what’s on offer, there are fresh pressed juices with ingredients of your choosing, a changing menu of smoothies, and different types of acai bowls. Now that the weather is starting to heat up, this is the perfect option for people looking for something refreshing. For those looking to consume more protein, you can also add a scoop of chocolate or vanilla whey protein powder to your smoothies!

Cure your cravings at Don’s Kitchen (12pm-8pm)

Bond’s famous on-campus café and bar — Don’s Tavern — has opened a kitchen with table service. Offering all of the traditional Aussie pub meals, this menu includes build-your-pizza, burgers, fish and chips, chicken parmi, loaded fries, salads, and much more. The team is ecstatic that “the food is a hit", and they've received only positive feedback.

Aside from the kitchen, Don’s also has other new additions. From Monday to Friday, you can find students using the three brand-new pool tables and a foosball table, lounging on the new couches, and chatting around the new picnic tables. You can also enjoy a range of specials which I encourage you to see for yourself.

Nourish your body and soul at Panacea (7am-4pm)

Located in Bond’s newly opened BIHS building, Panacea is a café/restaurant filled with a specially crafted menu focussing on health and nutrition (and flavour). Since there is an on-site kitchen, everything is prepared fresh. You can’t get better than that!

The name Panacea was chosen because it is a figure from Greek mythology that is associated with healing and universal remedy. It perfectly complements the health-promoting food, drinks, and location. I definitely recommend grabbing a bite to eat there if you haven’t already.

Have I made you hungry?

There’s no denying that all the new options sound and look delicious. And from personal experience, they are! I don’t know about you, but I’m going to go hang out at Don’s. Hope to see you there!
