A day in the life of an Exercise & Sports Science student

Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science (CRICOS 080641D) students can combine their passions for exercise and science in an exciting and dynamic industry. It’s a study area where you will immerse yourself in health, fitness and sport, while gaining a valuable understanding of human movement and physiology.

Interested in exploring what it’s like to be a Bond Exercise and Sports Science student? Get a glimpse into a day in the life.

6am: Relax and reinvigorate

With Bond an easy drive or bike ride from the Gold Coast’s spectacular beaches, a morning swim, cycle or surf is a must.

12pm: Exercise Physiology tutorial

It’s tutorial time. With 10 students or less per tutorial, there’s plenty of opportunity to talk to and connect with your tutor about assessments or lecture content. You’re a name, not a number, and will have plenty of one-on-one attention to ensure you understand the content and are ready to take on your assessments.

1pm: Laboratory experience

Learn new skills and gain hands-on research experience in your laboratory classes, with as few as eight students to a class. Every lab is different, but you might be learning about how to measure leg power or speed, or how to prescribe exercise and sport science procedures. With a focus on practical learning, your tutorials and laboratories include real-world studies and practical exercises.

3pm: Observe a training session

National and international sport teams regularly train at the High Performance Training Centre, using the elite facilities for training and recovery. Students can watch elite athletes train in the centre, being exposed to the techniques and tricks of the world’s best.

4pm: Home time

With classes complete for one day, it’s time to head home, catch up with family and friends and get ready for another day of Exercise and Sport Science!

Apply direct to Bond for the Bachelor Exercise and Sports Science program.

7:30am: Breakfast and coffee with friends

After a morning of sunshine and exercise, catch up with friends for the most important meal of the day: breakfast. Both Bond’s Institute of Health and Sport and main campus are surrounded by cafes and restaurants, or you can grab a coffee or a bite to eat at one of the on-campus dining options.

9am: Exercise Physiology lecture

Most of the Exercise and Sports Science classes are held at the Bond Institute of Health and Sport, a specially-designed facility featuring a world-class High Performance Training Centre. With around 20 students or less in a lecture, the academics know students by name and offer personalised support.

11am: Group assignment and snack time

Between classes, there’s time to catch up with classmates on a group assignment over a bite to eat at Kinetic Café, the aptly named café at the Institute. With lecture rooms, laboratories and training facilities all in the one building, it’s easy to get around between classes.
