Here’s everything the libraries at Bond can do for you during your studies

The Bond Main Library and Law Library are home to a variety of helpful study resources students from all faculties have access to. I practically live at the libraries during weeks 6 and 12 when assignments are due. The study spaces become my living room, Papyrus Café becomes my kitchen, and the friendly staff become my dream flatmates who help me with my assignments. If you haven’t ventured beyond borrowing books, here is everything the libraries can do for you.

Provide study spaces

Bond’s libraries boast study areas for every type of learner. Communal, quiet conversation areas can be found on Level 2 in both buildings if you thrive in a social setting. However, if you are easily distracted by noise, silent study areas are located on the upper levels. Study rooms are also available to book if you want some privacy or host a group study session. If you are seeking a more casual environment, lounge areas are scattered throughout.

Assist with referencing and research

Booking a librarian consultation is an essential learning experience for every Bondy before their first set of assessments. When I started at Bond, I had no idea where to research for scholarly papers and how to reference them. In fact, I had never even heard of the term ‘peer reviewed.’ A consultation with my faculty librarian taught me how to effectively research and use referencing tools, saving me hours upon hours of scrolling through search results and typing each individual reference. My extensive use of high-quality reference has also earned me commendations from my academics!

Computing support

As a self-professed technologically challenged student, I am always in need of computing supportThankfully, the IT Service Desk help me with everything from connecting to Wi-Fi to downloading computer software, and even cyber security. I am so grateful for these tech geniuses!

Student Assist

Student Assist is another great resource I recommend every Bondy should take advantage of. Navigating subject enrolment and managing your timetable can be a stressful task, no matter what semester you are in. If you are feeling overwhelmed about subject planning or just want to chat through your options, these are the people to go to.

Fulfil all your printing needs

Self-service printers are always at the ready if you need to scan, copy, or print A4 or A3 documents. Should you require specialised printing and binding services, the Print Shop is open Monday to Friday. I love to see the flyers and booklets I design in my advertising classes come to life on professional printing paper.

Fuel your study sessions

Papyrus Café is filled with breakfast, lunch, and snack foods. The nutritious sandwiches, wraps, and salad options are perfect for fuelling an intensive day of study. In addition, a delectable selection of sweet treats is also on-hand if you need a sugar spike. I recommend the caramel slice.

Events

You are under the wrong impression if you think libraries are all serious and no fun. From fashion swaps to craft activities, and even engaging academic workshops, there are always social events you can partake in. If you are new to Bond and unfamiliar with campus, the libraries also host orientation tours.

Online classes & courses

The Bond library website gives you even more study resources. Participating in the library’s online classes and courses have taught me about digital literacy and develop core information skills. The revision material on how to reference in different styles has also proven to be a life saver when staying up late to finish an assignment that is due at midnight (not that I ever do that, of course).

Ready to study?

I hope I’ve taught you about a new resource at the Bond Main Library you can use to help you study and inspired you to head down to the library. If you need extra help with writing content, you can also visit the Academic Skills Centre located in student court.
