Welcome to the start of something special – your time at Bond University! The adventure begins at Orientation, a week of information sessions, tours, activities and social events to introduce you to life as a Bondy.
During Orientation you’ll meet new people, familiarise yourself with Bond and the Gold Coast, plus learn everything you need to know about the next chapter of your education and career.
From current Bondies to future Bondies, we’ve put together some tips to help you settle in.
Find your tribe
Did we just become best friends? Orientation is all about getting to know your new university, classes, and of course, your fellow Bondies! The Orientation program is designed to help you meet new friends and get to know the people who will be studying alongside you throughout your degree. Head to the Orientation Expo, register for the social events and if you’re staying on campus, get to know your new neighbours. Bond is home to a wide range of student clubs and societies, so it’s easy to find your tribe.
Top tip: Mark the University Official Welcome in your diary. Registration and attendance is mandatory - register now!
Get out of your comfort zone
Sign up for some of the social events held on and off campus during the week, take a group fitness class at the Sports Centre (it's free for students!) or start a conversation with the person next to you at the Orientation Welcome. Everyone is in the same boat – so don’t be shy to say hi!
Do it for the 'gram
As you’re making new friends, expand your network online too. Follow the Bond University Student Association (BUSA) on Instagram and Facebook to stay up-to-date with BUSA events and initiatives and follow the clubs and societies that interest you.
Ask for help
There’s tonnes of support here at Bond – all you need to do is ask!
If you need help with an assignment, are having trouble with technology, want a hand mapping out your study and career goals, or could use someone to talk to, you’ll find a support service to assist.
Check out all our student services.
Be kind to yourself
Starting university is a big life change – even bigger if you’ve moved away from your friends and family. If you feel a little homesick from time to time, that’s ok! Computers are available 24 hours a day and you can also access the free WiFi from anywhere on campus to get in touch with home. In a few weeks, Bond will feel like home - we promise.
We’re looking forward to welcoming you to your new home very soon! In the meantime, register for Orientation and follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
