In our first 30 years, almost 30,000 alumni have graduated from Bond University. To celebrate our 30th anniversary, weโre showcasing some of the past students who have paved the way for the next generation of Bondies.
Meet Derek Cronin.
What is your current role?
Managing Partner of Cronin Miller Litigation.
Where are you based?
Surfers Paradise.
Why did you choose to attend Bond?
How could you choose anywhere else?

What are your recollections of your time here?
I have the most wonderful memories of time spent with great friends who I still enjoy catching up with now.
How has being a Bond graduate helped you in your career?
It helped me to obtain my first job in the legal profession. Over time the Bond graduate has come to be more and more appreciated by members of the legal community.
What have been your career highlights so far?
I became a partner at a young age and started my own practice when I was in my early thirties. The business now employs ten lawyers and has employed many Bondies over the years.
What advice would you give to current Bondies?
Believe in yourself and donโt be afraid to roll the sleeves up and achieve your dreams with hard work.
What does it mean to you to be a Bondy?
It is something which I am very proud of โ I am often telling friends from around the globe that they should be looking at Bond when it comes to a quality education.
What is your favourite memory of Bond?
I helped organise a car rally (scavenger hunt) called โthe Bondy 500โ where everyone got dressed up in a theme โ it was one of the highlights of the social calendar. Times spent at a nightclub called โThe Tunnelโ was also a hoot โ we all thought we were so special! I guess we still do (or at least some of us!)
Anything else you would like to share?
They say, โOnce a Bondy always a Bondyโ. It is moments spent with old friends from my 892 cohort that I cherish the most.
