Meet our Bondies | Lisa Tamaoki

In our first 30 years, almost 30,000 alumni have graduated from Bond University. To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we’re showcasing some of the past students who have paved the way for the next generation of Bondies.

Meet Bachelor of Arts (CRICOS 063052M) alumna and member of Bond's first class, Lisa Tamaoki.

What is your current role?

International Business and First Class Flight Attendant with Qantas.

Where are you based?

Sydney.

Why did you choose to attend Bond?

I wanted to immerse myself in an international university with lots of different cultures as I had in my previous private international school experiences.

What are your recollections of your time here?

Fun, exciting, promising and diverse.

How has being a Bond graduate helped you in your career?

Ability to deal and talk with people in all parts of the world and also business-minded people. I was a Group Business Development Manager with international hotel groups prior to flying with Qantas.

What have been your career highlights so far?

I’ve had many. Working at Tourism Australia during the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Working at Japan Travel Bureau (JTB) as a Sales and Marketing Manager. Working at Qantas now flying around the world and when on the ground, facilitating service training for new recruits.

What advice would you give to current Bondies?

Enjoy your time as 30 years goes by quickly! Make sure you keep in contact with your peers as this could lead to strong friendships that will aid you in life, including business connections.

What does it mean to you to be a Bondy?

Oh sooo proud! We are the Foundation!

What is your favourite memory of Bond?

Living in the first on-campus residences -- waking up with friends and having the freedom to dine and chat together and then walk to classes etc.

Anything else you would like to share?

Wow, can’t believe 30 years have gone by! Everyone all still looks young! So great to be a part of a successful, culturally diverse university in Australia.
