 About the Position:

 Reporting to the Senior Laboratory Manager, this full time (1.0 FE) Laboratory Officer position is within Bond University’s Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine. In this position, you will assist with the day-to-day operation of Allied Health facilities and ensure laboratory facilities provide an efficient and effective space for student learning, assessment, and teaching.

 Duties may include:

  • Trialling new activities including simulations.
  • Liaising with stakeholders to deliver high-quality laboratory experiences.
  • Setting up student practical classes and simulations.
  • Assisting the Laboratory Services team to ensure continuity of service periods of high demand.
  • Maintaining equipment, inventory, and safe laboratories and spaces for student learning.

About the person

We are looking for a dynamic individual with experience in a laboratory, allied health, or medical environment to become an integral member of the team. In this position, you will thrive on working autonomously while being part of a collaborative team and will be interested in cross-training and progressing your career.

 We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a certificate level qualification in a relevant field combined with previous experience in a laboratory environment.
  • A sound understanding of laboratory environments and laboratory maintenance tasks.
  • Previous experience in lab activities including, set up, demonstration and inventory control.
  • Highly developed organisational and communications skills and ability to work harmoniously in a team environment contributing to team outcomes.
  • A sound understanding of Workplace Health and Safety standards and risk management in a Laboratory environment.
  • Well developed administrative skills and IT literacy including experience with the Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks concurrently, apply continuous improvement principles, and meet deadlines.

Salary details

The salary for this position commences at $66,517.31 per annum, plus 12% superannuation per annum.

Please note: The fixed term of this employment contract will be for up to two years, with twelve months' probation. The prospect of conversion to a continuing employment contract will be discussed at the end of the contract term.
