The Faculty of Society & Design is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Technical Officer within the FSD Fabrication Laboratory facilities.  This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and a diverse Faculty. 

 

The position reports directly to the Fabrication Laboratory Manager and forms part of a team operating within the faculty to provide specialist support to staff and students across a range of disciplines.  The position will provide student training and supervision, wood machining, prototype assembly work, as well as architectural model making.  There is a strong focus on digital fabrication and the development of robotics and 3D printing programs.

 

About the person

To be successful in this position, the candidate will have:

  • Suitable technical qualifications at Certificate IV level or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience operating and maintaining a wood machinery workshop, including CNC routers and laser cutters
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are mandatory, demonstrated by the ability to liaise, consult and present to a diverse range of clients and stakeholders.
  • The ability to support and develop 3D printing and Robotics programs
  • Strong skills in architectural model making and other timber-based fabrication
  • Strong working knowledge of CAD & CAM software

 

Salary details

The salary for the position commences at $71,780.99 per annum, plus 12% superannuation.
