The Intellectual Property Rights (Data Exchange) course is designed to provide that competitive career advantage for professionals in the rapidly developing fields of Building Information Modelling (BIM), Lean Construction (Lean) and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).

Major projects of the future will be delivered using openBIM and IPD, and smart contractors of the future will deliver projects using Lean Construction. Such projects will introduce benefits for competent professionals, providing they demonstrate a solid understanding of the complexities of the integration of these delivery systems.

This subject provides useful knowledge regarding a range of intellectual property rights that may be encountered in a construction environment involving openBIM and IPD. It also covers the impacts of BIM / Lean / IPD on contract administration, including an understanding of clauses professionals should have in contracts to avoid pitfalls.  

Intellectual Property Rights (Data Exchange) is one of twelve specialised BIM microcredentials available. 

Meet your course instructor

Cherie Orevich

Cherie graduated with honours in law and psychology from Bond University, and since then has practiced as a criminal and civil litigation solicitor, engaging in high-level litigation in all Queensland courts as well as the Family Court, the High Court of Australia, and superior courts of New South Wales.  She has also conducted major criminal proceedings in the High Court of Hong Kong. Cherie has been lecturing and tutoring at Bond University for over 10 years across the subjects Expert Witness and Dispute Resolution, Intellectual Property Rights (Data Exchange), and Evidence and Victimology.

Cherie currently works as a legal agent for victims of crime. In addition to her legal experience, she is an accomplished filmmaker, project manager, events coordinator, and marketing consultant.

  • This microcredential is aimed at professionals in architecture, project management, construction, valuation and property development, city planning or related fields with an interest in gaining a foundational understanding of Building Information Modelling concepts.

    Participants require basic skills in architecture, construction or a related field, or experience in the building or construction industries.
