ACFB Director invited to address family business community in China

At the invitation of Professor Ling Chen and Professor Jess Chua, Dr Justin Craig, Co-Director of Bond University’s globally recognised Australian Centre for Family Business (ACFB), this week travels to China to deliver two key-note speeches to family business researchers and practitioners.

Dr Craig will first address entrepreneurship and family business researchers from the region at the 7th International Symposium on Entrepreneurship and Family Business (ISEFB) in Hangzhou, which is jointly sponsored by the School of Management and City University of Zhejiang University, one of the top universities in China. The second speech will be to 300 family businesses at a family forum in Cixi.

The ACFB is Bond University’s longest established research centres.

The mission of the Australian Centre for Family Business is to:

  • Contribute to the economic and social development of Australia by enhancing the prospects for profitable continuity of Australian family businesses
  • Be globally recognised as leaders in family business research and pedagogy.

The primary function of the ACFB is to conduct quantitative and qualitative research studies that concentrate on the short- and long-term concerns of the family business community to ensure relevance to contemporary national needs.

The ACFB’s secondary function is to facilitate the dissemination of the results of ACFB research to:

1. The academic community via academic journal publications and conferences
2. Consultants and advisors to family businesses through presentations and workshops
3. The family business community through:

  • Classroom instruction to Bond University family business undergraduate students
  • Executive education, specifically, the Bond Executive MBA in family business and Graduate Certificate in Family Business
  • Involvement with family business networks, specifically Family Business Australia
