Bond's Olympic countdown: Maddison Levi

Maddi Levi won a national championship with Bond University in May and just a few months later was picked to represent Australia at the Olympics.

Levi, 19, starred as Bond University claimed a historic AON Women’s Uni7s title on home turf in front of the Fabian Fay Clubhouse.

Her performance impressed Australian sevens coach John Manenti who named Levi in the Uni7s Dream Team at the completion of the tournament, alongside her sister Teagan.

But it was Maddison who took the next step up to wearing green and gold at the Olympics.

“Teagan and I used to be dancers and cheerleaders growing up and then we started playing sport because you got a day off school,” Levi said.

“I started playing rugby at Miami High and I was the real tall lanky kid and a lot of girls told me I’d never make it because I was skinny.

“I’m the kind of person that will bottle that up and use it as motivation.”

Levi also plays AFL with Bond University and has already represented the Gold Coast Suns in the AFLW.

The ultimate dream though is to play rugby sevens for Australia at the Olympics.
