Bond University will throw open its doors to the public later this month, with its eighth annual Research Week set to highlight topics as diverse and future focused as tactical response research, the artificial mind, and the ethics of consumption.
Bond University Research Week will run from October 14 to 18 and consists of 16 events that will celebrate the university’s research across its Business, Law, Health Sciences and Medicine, and Society and Design faculties.
The theme of this year’s Research Week is Engage, Influence, Impact, and Bond University Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Keitha Dunstan said the schedule of events provided a valuable opportunity to highlight the innovative research being carried out by the university’s Research Centres.
“Bond University Research Week is a great chance for Bond to shine a light on the work of our researchers, and for the public to engage with them and the wider Bond community.”
The Community are invited to events including:
- a public lecture on retinal diseases;
- a rapid fire mini-symposium on research that focusses on the protection and performance of tactical personnel (military, law enforcement, firefighters and first responder organisations);
- a series of short presentations about different areas of legal research;
- two short (30 min) presentations covering the science of business and ethical consumption;
- digital technology in relation to construction productivity;
- a panel discussion on exercise as a standard component of chronic disease and prevention management;
- a breakfast hosted by the Bond University Women’s Network that showcases three researchers at different stages of their career; and
- a showcase of the work undertaken by the interdisciplinary team in the field of artificial technology.
The Research Community at Bond will celebrate the accomplishments of Post Graduate Research students and supervisors.
In the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine, Masters and PhD students will join the Medical Program in a one-day conference which will consist of four concurrent streams of presentations that showcase the students’ research.
The Research Week Gala Dinner is attended by collaborators, supporters and staff. This year’s keynote speaker is Dr Glenn Gardener, a pioneer in maternal fetal medicine. The winners of Vice Chancellor’s 2019 Research Award will also be announced.
