Bond University is holding its first entirely virtual Open Day and inviting prospective students to experience the Bond difference from the comfort of their couches.
Open Day, Live from Bond kicks off at 12pm (AEST) this Saturday, 25 July with a suite of events streaming live throughout the day to a global audience.
Bond offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and programs, diplomas and non-award programs, and has consistently been ranked the number one Australian university for student experience.
Throughout Open Day there will be an array of information seminars and opportunities to learn more about the University's faculties, degrees and specialised programs including Bond’s Transformer Program and Transformational Degrees, which are geared towards equipping students to embrace jobs and professions of the future in cutting-edge areas.
Bond alumna Candice Dixon will host this year’s Open Day and said she was proud to be part of such a creative and innovative venture.
Born and raised on the Gold Coast, Ms Dixon knew she wanted to study at Bond while she was still in primary school but said attending an Open Day solidified her decision.
“My first impression from Open Day was how beautiful the lake and campus was. I felt very at home and the message I got was that the sky was the limit. I felt very inspired," she said.
“The accelerated degrees were also a major highlight for me. When I learnt that I could graduate when I was 19, that was the icing on the cake, and I couldn’t wait to study at Bond.”
After graduating from her Bachelor of Communications degree, Ms Dixon began working in the media and entertainment industry as a host for Saturday Disney, moving to Sydney and then LA to pursue her career.
She now splits her time between the Gold Coast and Sydney where she works as a host for Sydney Weekender.
“To be able to host the Open Day is such an honour," she said.
"After travelling around the world and living in many different places, it’s a great feeling to be home and back at Bond.
“Attending the virtual Open Day will be a great way for prospective students to learn what life is like at Bond, and it’s a chance to ask all the questions up front.
"There's a lot of very exciting programs and initiatives, so attending the Open Day helps you find out what lecturers or subjects might inspire you, and the sort of career path you might want to take, all while in a relaxed setting.”
Get up close and personal with the faculties
- Discover how to spot a liar with a Professor of Criminology, witness a model UN crisis resolution unfold, and see what it takes to manage a large-scale event project with the Faculty of Society & Design.
- Find out why mooting is such a popular and valuable activity when students from the Faculty of Law showcase a moot court proceeding, before learning what it’s like to work as in-house Counsel with Amazon.
- The Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine (HSM) will showcase what a day in the life of a medical professional looks like, before taking one of the hosts through a live fitness test at the Bond Institute of Health & Sport (BIHS).
- Check out Bond’s Fintech Hub and learn more about data analytics with Dr Bruce Vanstone, Professor of Data Science from the Bond Business School (BBS), and hear first-hand about the changing tides of studying Sports Management from 2015 Longboard World Champion, Rachael Tilley.
