Prof Derek Carson

Derek Carson, a Professor of Applied Cognitive Psychology, joined Bond University in 2018 as the Executive Dean of The Faculty of Society & Design. The Faculty includes The Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Film, Television & Creative Media, Architecture, and the Built Environment disciplines. Prior to joining Bond, he was the Dean of the School of Media, Culture & Society at The University of The West of Scotland, and before this, the Head of Psychology at Abertay University. Derek’s research interests fall within the fields of person recognition and forensic mental health. He is a proponent of a translational and inter-disciplinary research approach and is keen for Universities to work more creatively and flexibly with industry in all its forms.
