The Bull Sharks women will head to Noosa for the final tournament of 2022 desperate to claim the inaugural Charlotte Caslick Cup and complete a clean sweep of rugby’s most coveted trophies.

The Bond women have already claimed the National University 7s title and the Premier Women’s Rugby first grade premiership and will head into the final leg of the QPR 7s in a three-way tie on 28 points with the Easts Tigers and University of QLD.

What they said

Chief playmaker Faythe Manera, who has been the architect of the Bull Sharks’ attacking prowess, is delighted with the constant progression the team has made each tournament.

“Comparing Brisvegas to the GC 7s, the big difference has just been us understanding our roles a lot better and working hard for the person next to them,” she said.

Bond has a diverse squad ranging from experienced 7s players to girls still at high school and Manera knows the importance of remaining composed and working through their processes one game at a time.

“Putting points on the board early whilst controlling the pace of the game and keeping our patience is the key,” she said.

“Every member of our squad has played a huge part so it's just about backing ourselves to get the job done.”

For the majority of the squad this will be last rugby for 2022 and there is a real excitement to finish on the right note and cap off an exceptional year for Bond rugby.

“We are representing our women's rugby program as a whole and hopefully we can get a full circle moment in relation to the success our 15s side had,” said Manera.

Team news

Head coach Lawrence Faifua has had plenty of depth throughout the 7s campaign, but the coach is sticking with same championship squad from Brisvegas.

The only forced change sees Dianne Waight come back into the side after missing last weekend for illness. She will replace Georgia Grey who is unavailable for the final tournament.

The final team for 2022 is a strong one and will be eager to showcase how good they can be in the last dance at Noosa.
