The Bull Sharks were out and hunting over the weekend, earning wins in both the QFA and QAFLW.
Our men silenced the home crowd as they ensured a miserable afternoon for Coomera with a 91-point victory to secure second place on the ladder, leading into their bye round.
In the QAFLW the Bull Sharks continued their historic winning streak against Wilston Grange, defeating the Gorillas by a commanding 31 points in dual club champion Courtney Sexton's 50th game.

Where was it won:
One of the stranger things in team sport is how a team can look vastly different from one week to the next without any good reason. The Bull Sharks came out of the gates at 100 kilometres an hour and never really looked back. Attacking the game with a vigour that was missing the week prior ensured the opposition never really had a chance at all. Slick ball movement, clean possession, and a fierce attack on the footy summed up the day which was reflective on the scoreboard as they went on to win by close to 100 points.
The Highlight:
The entire first quarter was the highlight, it was the best quality footy the team has played all year. They barely put a foot wrong and for footy purists it was good watching.
What made you happy:
The ability of the team to finish their work by way of skill execution or goals. From defence, through the midfield and into attack the ball moved with speed and purpose. Most pleasing was the way the group played until the very end with the same intent as the first bounce which showed great maturity and growth. There were winners across the entire ground for the first time this season.
Bull Sharks Football:
Coach Shaun Hart couldn’t have been happier given the way the team played. There was general excitement post-game from the coach as he saw some real growth in many individuals and collectively that gives everyone involved real belief.
The work to do:
That’s the level the group is capable of, now the challenge as always is to repeat week in week out.
Trademark Player:
This week it was nearly impossible to single out any one player out although someone who represents the way we love to play most weeks and particularly on the weekend was Ollie-Burrows-Cheng. His ferocious attack on the footy and the opposition is unquestioned, he found himself in the thick of it for the majority of the game and won every contest he was involved in., he’s much loved and an inspiring figure every week.

Where it was won:
After absorbing a bruising physical opposition, it was our ball use that earned us our victory. We consistently created scoring opportunities through our ability to change angles by foot and through handball to girls in space. Our efforts saw that we were getting deeper, and more effective inside 50’s, something we have been working on this season.
Highlight:
Ari Clark landed a magnificent mark in the goal square and then selflessly decided that offloading back to Courtney Sexton was the best move. Courtney’s position at the top of the square set her up perfectly to kick the goal. A very pure display of team care from the pair of them.
What made you happy:
Determined to redeem ourselves after our Round 3 performance against Coorparoo, the girls increased their effort tenfold. They rebounded well and brought a high level of intensity to the game, driven through their team care and connection. The girls’ ability to absorb the fire Wilston Grange was trying to start was another big highlight. The took the heat and returned the pressure right back.
Bull Sharks Football:
We played extremely well, winning contested ball by 21 and uncontested ball by 76. We won on paper with our marks as well, out shining the Gorillas by 5. These areas are all key indicators that our Bull Sharks footy is back with style.
Work to do:
Stoppages are our main work on for now. We need to improve on getting the ball from inside heavy traffic out into space where we can run and use our leg speed.
Trademark player:
Imogen Evans laid the Gorillas down with her tackles and was superb across her contested ball work. Her efforts inside stoppages were second to none. Evans, an inside outside midfielder, is a selfless player who regularly shares the ball with teammates who are in better playing positions than her. A true team player.
