Bull Sharks firing in lead up to finals

The Bull Shark showed they are hitting peak form at the business end of the season with a comprehensive victory over the Roos at The Canal.

Coach Andy Lovell described it as the most complete performance of the season as the Bull Sharks ran out 62 point winners.

Bull Sharks v Maroochydore.

Bull Sharks won 12.11 (83) to 3.3 (21).

Best: Tahlia Meyer, Courtney Sexton, Havana Harris, Shannon Nolan, Mia Salisbury, Nyalli Milne.

Courtney Sexton
Courtney Sexton was best on ground against Maroochydore.

Where it was won:

The numbers tell the story. We were + 15 in contested ball and + 92 in uncontested ball which showed we were harder on the inside and outworked them on the outside. This equated to +20 inside 50m entries where we scored from an impressive 64 per cent of our entries.

The highlight:

Courtney Sexton capped off a fine performance with a career high three goals while resting as a small forward from her usual midfield role.

What made you happy:

Our continued “Team First” attitude and commitment to play our roles for each other.

The work to do:

While we dominated the opposition, we were a little sloppy at times with our ground ball gathers and our connection by hand and foot. So, we need to continue to get good quality balls in hands throughout our remaining sessions. Also, a 10-minute lapse in the third quarter allowed the opposition to score two easy goals.

Bull Sharks Footy:

Our defensive mechanisms have allowed us to restrict the opposition scoring heavily which has been a strong focus for us since our last loss to Southport five weeks ago. From this we’ve been able to attack from a strong position and get an even balance in our game style and shape.

Trademark Player:

Tahlia Meyer on a wing was outstanding with her run and overall work ethic. She patrols her wing with poise and smarts with her gut run and positioning. She continues to build on an already impressive debut season with us.

Reserves.

Bull Sharks won:

16.23 (119) to 0.1 (1)

Best: Georgia Hamilton, Makayla Sekac, Jasmine Single, Jessica McLean, Grace Ella, Aleah Stringer
