Can Bull Sharks slay unbeaten Dragons?

Bull Sharks try
The Bull Sharks; skills will be a key against Dragons

The Premier women are gearing up for their biggest test of the season when they meet the ladder-leading Sunnybank Dragons in Brisbane on Saturday afternoon.

Last time they met:

The two heavyweights went head-to-head in round 4 and the visitors got the win over the Bull Sharks 19-12 in tough conditions at The Canal.

Jemima Henry and Dianne Waight scored the only two tries for Bond as they fell short.

Where will it be won:

Experienced centre Caity Costello, who has added a calming influence to the youthful backline, has drawn lessons from last weekend’s win against Brothers.

“The key areas of improvement have been our overall discipline and work rate, especially off the ball, which will be critical heading into this week,” she said.

The Dragons are unbeaten in 2023 but the Bond women have proven they can rise to the occasion and will be eager to knock them over.

“Sunnybank are a strong side and it will be a tough and physical match, but we are a very capable and skilful team and we know we will need to stay in the fight,” Costello said.

“The feeling is really good in the group and we’re excited to meet them this weekend.”

Around the grades:

The first grade men’s side currently sit at the top of the ladder and will meet a Dragons side desperate for just their second win of the season as they celebrate their multicultural day.

The Bull Sharks know they can’t get complacent against an X-factor Dragons side that have strike weapons across the park.

Coach Grant Anderson is set to name a strong side as Bond look to cement their spot at the top of Premier Rugby ladder.

After the match Bond will have two weeks off with a bye and then a competition break.

Match times:

Colts two: 9:30am

Third grade: 10:50am

Colts one: 12:10pm

Second grade: 1:30pm

First grade: 3:05pm

Premier women: 4:50pm
