The Colts 1 qualify for finals with a hard-fought win over UQ and the Premier Women are off to a qualifying final.
The Premier Men drew 31-31 with a finals bound UQ side.
Bond v UQ at UQ.
Colts 1
Bull Sharks won 38-31.
Where it was won:
After playing a heavy majority of the game, Blake Raymond scored a try with 3 minutes left on the clock. We set the win up via the forwards, they scored a couple of maul tries and also impressed with their scrum dominance.
The highlight:
UQ had a scrum 25m out from their own try line, we pushed them off the ball to gain a penalty. It was a moment in the game that really gave us momentum.
What made you happy:
Off the back of our pack’s dominance our backs were able to score a couple of nice tries. The game management from Cal Simpson was excellent, his big boot turned UQ around often, giving us the opportunity to apply pressure.
The work to do:
Our ball carry support is still a key work on. We are getting isolated at times and need to be quicker to support. Keep working on the set piece strength and we were a little tight with our line defence at the breakdown, so we’ve put some emphasis on our spacing.
Trademark player:
Harry Bell is always in the thick of it. He scored a try and led the way with our scrum dominance.

Premier Women
Bull Sharks won 33-12.
Where it was won:
Our back three were very good on the weekend, Amahli Hala, Eva Doblo and Dianne Waight. They took on the defence and used their speed to help us get the win.
The highlight:
Our tries were a whole team effort and that was visible across play. It was great to see the team working together to put those points up on the board.
What made you happy:
Our team worked well as a unit. Their teamwork made them look like they were one as they mowed down the field.
The work to do:
We will need to work on our consistency and our muscle up the front heading into the semi-finals.
Trademark Player:
Lucy Thorpe, her carries and defensive efforts made her a key player in this win. She really stood out on the field.

Premier Men
Bull Sharks drew 31-31
How it panned out:
We drew, we snatched a draw from the jaws of victory. We were leading, but they scored a few tries times late in the game to draw level. The performance was far better than we have put in recently and a great end to the season.
The highlight:
Our defensive effort was really good. UQ has been averaging well over 40 points a game for majority of the year. We restricted their scoring until late in the game.
What made you happy:
I was happy with the pride the boys displayed. When you let yourself down one week and redeem yourself the next it is quiet satisfying.
The work to do:
There’s a lot of it. We need to find a higher level of consistency for next season. We played really well against top teams for 20 -30 minutes but if we can extend that we can win more. We know they have the ability, but we have to find the ability to be more consistent next season
Trademark Player:
Syris Schmidt, he got his first start in Premier Grade for the year. He was injured a lot of the year- he showed in the game that he is ready to take that step up next year.
