In pictures: Australia's best young female football stars shine brightly at Bond

The next wave of AFLW players were on display when the AFL's National Development Championships kicked off at Bond University this week.

Hundreds of parents and a scattering of AFL scouts watched on as U16s academy sides from the Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast Suns, GWS Giants and Sydney Swans plus state representative sides from Tasmania and the Northern Territory did battle in perfect conditions at The Canal.

The carnival, the first ever for female players, will also see sides from Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia play games across three states over four weeks.
