Description
This subject is designed to provide additional advanced and contemporary laboratory skills and training for students who are considering a career in laboratory science or medical research. Working closely with research academics across the Faculty, students will get substantial "hands-on" experience with a variety of advanced methods including cell and tissue culture, flow cytometry, microarray, immunohistochemistry and analytical chemistry techniques.

- Describe the basic theoretical principles of a subset of advanced methods including cell and tissue culture, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and analytical chemistry techniques
- Demonstrate competence in the practical use of these methods
- Distinguish between the potential applications and research utilities of these methodological approaches
- Analyse and interpret data and other outputs generated using these methodologies
