Description

In this subject, students apply the concepts, tools and practices necessary to identify and evaluate new business ventures. Throughout the semester, students will work individually to design and assess the viability of a business opportunity by understanding industry dynamics, market and competitive considerations, global and cultural dynamics, customer needs and associated risk factors. This provides students with the opportunity to develop a range of competencies to enhance their personal entrepreneurial capacity.

  1. Explain the key entrepreneurial considerations for successfully launching new ventures.
  2. Apply relevant concepts and tools to develop a new venture feasibility analysis.
  3. Determine the key financial and non-financial resources required for new ventures.
  4. Assess the external environmental factors affecting the proposed new venture to evaluate the associated risks and determine appropriate countermeasures.
  5. Communicate a new venture proposal in writing.
  6. Communicate a new venture proposal verbally.

Assumed knowledge:

Assumed knowledge is the minimum level of knowledge of a subject area that students are assumed to have acquired through previous study. It is the responsibility of students to ensure they meet the assumed knowledge expectations of the subject. Students who do not possess this prior knowledge are strongly recommended against enrolling and do so at their own risk. No concessions will be made for students’ lack of prior knowledge.

Restrictions:

Students must have completed 120 credit points prior to enrolling. Combined Degree students must have completed 120 Credit points from the Business part of their program.
