FITV11-100: Short Screen Project and Industry Protocol

Description

This workshop-based subject combines the learning of essential on-set industry protocols, crew hierarchy, and how to function as an industry practitioner, with the fundamental filmmaking skills of understanding film grammar, visual storytelling and contemporary camera coverage techniques. Students learn modern camera coverage principles across a range of essential dramatic scenes. The subject culminates in the students producing a team-based 3-minute film.

  1. Identify and implement the responsibilities associated with a range of crew roles and the function of crew hierarchy and industry protocols.
  2. Apply industry best practice camera coverage techniques to successfully convey a filmic story.
  3. Create a short film that successfully exhibits fundamental visual story principles.
  4. Interpret and apply feedback to improve the storytelling of a short film.
