LAWS75-217: Contract Law B

Description

Contract Law B is a compulsory subject in the Juris Doctor program offered by the Faculty of Law. The subject builds on the content of Contract Law A to examine the impact on contractual obligations of common law doctrines, equitable principles and statutory initiatives. This includes consideration of misleading conduct, unconscionable and illegal contracts, consumer contracts, and remedies for breach of contract. Emphasis is placed on the development of oral communication and advocacy skills.

Learning outcomes

  1. Demonstrate advanced and integrated understanding of the following legal topics: statutory obligations that impact on contracts, specifically consumer contracts; the vitiating factors and the impact of those factors on contract enforcement at common law and in equity; and remedies for breach of contracts and for breaches of statutory obligations.
  2. Demonstrate competency in exercising the following skill at an intermediate level, with creativity, initiative and autonomy: oral communication and advocacy.
  3. Adhere to the highest standards of professionalism, including a commitment to: learning and working autonomously, accountably and reflectively; behaving ethically and responsibly; and managing time effectively and meeting deadlines.
