Looking for the best spots to study on campus? Well, Bond is home to a large variety of environments where you can focus on your work. From individual silent study nooks to large communal spaces that promote friendly chats and group work, you will be sure to find a space for every study occasion.
I’ve just begun my final semester at Bond, so I know all the ins and outs of the study areas on-campus. Luckily for you, I’m not a gatekeeper, so below are some of my favourite study spots at Bond you can escape to during your mid-semester grind.
Multimedia Learning Centre
Open 24/7, the Multimedia Learning Centre (MLC) is a study sanctuary for night owls and a second home to crammers during exam weeks. The MLC is home to a variety of study environments with quiet study areas for the noise-sensitive, and communal study areas for group study sessions or collaborative assignments. Desktop computers and self-service printing are also available for you to use at your discretion.
Law Library Level 3
Hidden on the third floor of the Faculty of Law building is a silent study space that welcomes students from every faculty. While there are other silent study spaces around campus, this space tends to be less populated. This area is ideal if you are sensitive to background noise and want to be productive — with minimal distractions and only the faint sounds of people typing or turning the page of a book.
Main Library
Bond’s Main Library is always a go-to study space and full of resources. If you are having trouble researching for an assignment, librarians can help you find resources and ensure your references are correct. The Print Shop can fulfil all your specialised printing needs. If you are anything like me and always experiencing technical issues, you can get acquainted with the IT Service Desk. Papyrus Café, at the library entrance, is stocked with delicious fresh food and drinks, should hunger strike.
The Quad
When you live in the Sunshine State, beautiful sunny days are no stranger. During a busy day on campus, why not take the books outside and study in the Quad under a shaded umbrella to relish the delightful tropical Gold Coast climate. With an iced drink in hand, this is the perfect spot to review your notes and inspire creativity.
Business Commons
When the rainy season hits, I love finding a cozy study nook in the Business Commons and watch the rain cascade down the wall of windows that look onto the quad. Study essentials and snacks at the ready makes a productive study day less of a daunting task. There is no shortage of communal and individual desks if you’re after a more formal study environment. Alternatively, if a relaxed and casual study environment sounds more like your vibe, comfortable blue couches await you.
Society & Design precinct
One of my personal favourite study spots is the Society & Design precinct. This shaded outdoor study space merges comfort with sun safety and the tranquil sounds of nature. Hidden away next to the Architecture building, I love looking onto the lush greenery that surrounds Bond’s campus as I brainstorm concepts for my next big advertising campaign.
Other spots
These are only some the many spots where you can sit down and study at Bond. Some of my other favourites are The Atrium, Transformer, small and large group study rooms at The Main Library, the Bat Labs, and the open areas in Building 6.
