Multimedia Learning Centre

The Balnaves Foundation Multimedia Learning Centre is a technology-rich educational environment which exemplifies the student experience at Bond. It provides all Bond students with access to collaboration-friendly study spaces and the latest audio visual and computer technology in a spectacular location.

Enquiries & suggestions

This learning facility is managed by the Library. We work closely with IT Services and the Office of Learning and Teaching to ensure the facility is of a high standard and meets the learning needs of the University.

Ideas for future technology needs in this space are welcome.

    The Digital Media Hub was co-funded by the Balnaves Foundation and the Bond University Student Association. It's purpose is to facilitate teaching of digital media as well as deliver independent learning spaces for students. 

    The Studio 

    The Studio supports content creation and production. It features:

    • green screen
    • HD remote-controlled PTZ cameras
    • 3-point production lighting
    • teleprompter and monitors
    • Apple Mac
    • quality audio capture and playback facilities
    • virtual reality (VR) hardware.

    Digital Media Stations

    12 high end PCs and Mac Pros provide access to a range of software for digital media production, editing, 3D modelling and animation and CAD software.

    The Balnaves Foundation Multimedia Learning Centre offers flexible furniture. Students can move seating and tables to accommodate different modes of learning.

    Both Windows and Apple computers are available in the MLC for student and staff use. Self-service printing is also available from the Multimedia Learning Centre.

    Powered lockers are available for student use for up to 12 hours at a time. Visit the Main Library to borrow a key.

Balnaves Foundation

Dr Balnaves has played a key leadership role in the media industry for over 45 years. He previously held the position of Executive Chairman of Southern Star Group Limited which he founded. He was the Chairman of Ardent Leisure Group, one of Australia's most successful owners and operators of premium leisure assets.

In 2006, Dr Balnaves established The Balnaves Foundation, a philanthropic fund that aims to create a better Australia through education, medicine, and the arts with a focus on young people, the disadvantaged and Indigenous communities.

In 2008, The Balnaves Foundation generously funded the development of the award-winning Balnaves Foundation Multimedia Learning Centre, a technology-rich educational environment that exemplifies the student experience at Bond. The centre provides Bond students with access to collaborative-friendly study spaces, the latest audio-visual and computer technology in a spectacular location.

Access arrangements

The Main and Law Libraries & Multimedia Learning Centre are generally only accessible to Bond students and staff with valid swipe card access. Alumni should visit Security to obtain visitor access.
