Bond's Olympic countdown: Maddison Levi
Maddi Levi won a national championship with Bond University in May and just a few months later was picked to represent Australia at the Tokyo Olympics.

When Alex Graham broke into his first Australian senior swim team in 2013, he thought he had the world at his feet. The heartbreak of missing the 2016 Rio Olympics was a major wake-up call. After dominating junior swimming and breaking records for fun, it would take eight years for Graham to live out his dream of calling himself an Olympian.

A framed photo of nine-year-old Jenna Strauch standing next to Olympic champion Giaan Rooney had pride of place in the bedroom of the Bendigo youngster. For years it sat next to a signed swimming cap, foreshadowing a journey that Strauch herself still finds hard to fathom. Bendigo had only ever had one Olympic swimmer, back in the 1956 Melbourne Games. Now it has two.
