Bachelor of Business/ Bachelor of Social Science

Program overview

Our fast-track trimester timetable makes it easy to tackle a double degree at Bond. In fact, you can complete two degrees here in less time than you could graduate with just one at most other universities.

Bond’s Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Social Science combination can be done in less than 3 years (8 semesters) whereas it can take 3 years to complete either one as a stand-alone degree elsewhere.

The combination of Business and Social Science is a fascinating blend of business management principles and an in-depth understanding of human behaviour. This insight into how psychology impacts areas such as marketing, human resources and management will take your business studies to the next level.

You will be totally engaged by a dynamic study program that includes developing and starting your own business, meeting mentors and potential investors, overseas study, internships, and international student exchange opportunities.

In Bond’s small, personalised classes, every student has access to state-of-the-art facilities in the Bond FinTech Hub, the Commercialisation Centre, the Centre for Data Analytics, and Transformer.

Studying these two in-demand degrees at the same time also represents a significant cost-saving compared to the cost of studying the two degrees separately.

Inside the Bachelor of Business

About this program

The Bachelor of Social Science program encompasses several disciplines including criminology, psychology, counselling and behaviour management. The program allows you to combine majors to complete a program whose title reflects a specialisation of studies in a social sciences discipline area.

The Bachelor of Business prepares you for leadership roles in today’s global businesses. Subjects in Business Model Generation and Business Model Execution will develop your entrepreneurial and innovation abilities.

What you'll be studying

  • Study overview

This combined program is made up of 32 subjects (320 credit points), covering three University core subjects, 15 business subjects (including a six-subject major), 12 social science subjects (two majors) and two general electives selected from any faculty of the University.

Taking a full-time study load of four subjects per semester, you can complete the double degree in 2 years 8 months (eight semesters). Your study schedule may differ depending on your starting semester.

  • Year 1

Your first-year studies will include Bond’s unique core subjects that ensure every student develops leadership skills in critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and integrity. You will also complete a number of the required foundational subjects relevant to both Social Science and Business.

  • Year 2

In your second year, you will continue to cover the required business subjects and delve deeper into the complexities and nuances of social science disciplines such as psychology, counselling, and criminology.

  • Year 3

In your final two semesters, you will research and set up your own business through Bond’s unique Business Model Generation and Execution subjects. You will also complete your majors and electives. As you near the end of your degree, we encourage you to meet with a Career Development representative to discuss work experience and employability opportunities.

  • Social sciences - majors explained

Your study schedule will depend on your chosen areas of specialisation, with options in psychology, criminology, and counselling interventions.

Each student must nominate two majors (6 subjects from one study area) in some combination as follows:

    • Psychology and Criminology
    • Psychology and Counselling Interventions
    • Criminology and Counselling Interventions
  • Psychology major

Psychology focusses on understanding, describing, predicting, and controlling the causes of behaviour and thought. Our program gives you a scientific grounding in the study of normal psychological processes (perception, memory, learning, motivation, psychobiology, personality, emotion, developmental psychology, and social relationships) as well as abnormal psychology.

  • Counselling interventions major

Our increased awareness of mental health issues has accelerated demand for practitioners who specialise in evidence-based methods for assessing, understanding, and remediating the behavioural and other difficulties of people who are challenged by the regular demands of everyday life. You will learn how to build rapport with your clients and help them achieve their life goals through a range of tailored therapies and strategies

Hear from our Bondies

  • Criminology and behaviour management is a field I have always been interested in. My degree taught me a lot about the criminology industry and my passionate lecturers were integral to the successful completion of my studies, providing invaluable advice and guidance throughout. I was able to secure employment in my current position through an internship organised by Bond.

Daniele Juriansz - Alumna and senior case manager
  • Assistant Professor of Accounting

Our authentic learning approaches allow us to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Our business students learn to be creative, entrepreneurial, collaborative, and socially responsible global citizens. Some business subjects see students managing events and devising marketing plans for real business clients while others facilitate the development of problem-solving skills through real world case studies and insights gained from industry guest speakers.

Dr Jan Hollindale - Undergraduate Program Director
  • Criminology

“We get to know our students and what their aspirations are for employment in the future. So, we can help tailor their studies to help them secure the job they want.”
