Pathway to Criminology at Bond

About this program

The Bachelor of Criminal Justice and Criminology equips you with the practical and analytical skills needed in this rapidly changing world. Given shifting perceptions of crimes and harms and social inequities, this program interrogates profiles, patterns and trends, public and media influence on policy in how states respond, and situates crime events involving offenders, victims, and communities within cultural and historical contexts. It provides you with the knowledge and industry-facing practice that will help lead cultural and systemic change across a wide range of justice-oriented organisations.

The program encompasses theoretical and practical aspects of current and anticipated opportunities in the criminal justice workforce to gain a competitive advantage in employability outcomes. Subjects include criminal justice, cybercrime, criminal law, explanations for crime, miscarriages of justice and crime prevention.  You will be prepared with industry-relevant capacity for career options in justice-related positions across private, government, not-for-profit agencies aligned with professional roles in support, policy and research sectors.   

What you'll be studying

  • Study Overview

    The Bachelor of Criminal Justice and Criminology is made up of 24 subjects (240 credit points). Taking a full-time study load of 40 credit points per semester, you can complete your undergraduate degree in 2 years (six semesters). 

    Study plans can be tailored to your interests and career aspirations with your choice of criminology, psychology specialisation, law specialisations, or general electives (six subjects from one study area).

The opportunity to complete two – or even three – majors gives you the broadest possible choice of career options. You can explore those options further through work placements or for-credit internships.

    Our criminology academics are renowned for their expertise in professional practice, teaching, and research, including high profile criminologist and author of three textbooks, Dr Wayne Petherick, leading criminologist and former Detective Inspector, Dr Terry Goldsworthy, and criminology researcher and academic Robyn Lincoln. 

    They bring a dynamic energy to the classroom with their interactive style, ground-breaking research projects, current cases, and contemporary justice debates.
