The Master of Criminology (Professional) program builds on existing knowledge or enhances skills of those working in a related field. It will equip graduates with the critical thinking skills and strategic development required to expand their criminology careers.

Outcomes

Criminologist

Criminologists focus on gathering and interpreting research and data based on the nature and cause of a crime, to gain an in-depth understanding of why and how a crime has been committed.  

Criminologists may work for government agencies such as the police force or law courts. Alternatively, they may also work for a private institution such as an insurance company or a bank.

Intelligence officer

These roles offer a rewarding career that provides vital assistance to front line officers and policing services across the state and to the community. The role involves the provision of timely intelligence and specialist problem analysis to staff and specialist investigations groups, with pay scale ranging from $65,000 to $72,000 in Australia and comparable internationally.

Corrections officer

By working as a correction officer, you will be contributing to the efficiency and safety of the operation of a correctional centre/facility, including prisoners and any external visitors. This can also include some escorting work such as court, hospital, or external escorts. As a correction officer, you will facilitate in the rehabilitation of inmates, building and maintaining positive relationships.
