Bond Institutional Biosafety Committee (BIBC) is the body charged with managing biosafety on campus. Bond University is committed to providing a safe workplace for staff, students and visitors to the campus.
It is the responsibility of Chief Investigators and teaching staff who plan to use potentially hazardous materials to obtain appropriate biosafety approvals from the BIBC before they commence work, and to ensure that project staff and students are qualified, trained and appropriately supervised.
Work using Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs), biological materials covered by the Act, or other potentially hazardous materials requires notification to the BIBC through an application process.
All personnel working with biological material should be familiar with and comply with regulatory authorities and internal Bond requirements in this area. This information is provided at training sessions run by Bond University as required.
