What can you do with your degree?

Construction is a fast paced and evolving industry. As one of the largest economic sectors, the construction industry seeks graduates with distinctive skills, knowledge, and practical experience across a variety of fields and by supplementing your knowledge and understanding in construction with a high-demand skillset gained from project management will broaden your professional opportunities and help you stand out in your career. 

Graduate equipped with the necessary knowledge to deliver complex construction projects in career pathways include building and construction management, contract administration, site management, facilities management, building services, quantity surveying, property development, project management, cost management and general management.

Construction manager

Manage and plan construction projects and oversee their progress in a timely and cost-effective manner consistent with an overarching strategy. Responsibilities include coordination of workers and subcontractors, commissioning, and installation of infrastructure, managing budgets, and tracking tools, materials, equipment, and inventory.

Quantity surveyor

You will take an active role in the tendering of contracts through the analysis of proposals, plans, specifications, and other data in preparing time, cost, and labour first principles estimates for construction projects. You will be required to maximize project margin and add value to the construction process through proactive involvement in procurement, cost management and reporting.

Project manager

A Project Manager leads project planning and manages the team responsible for the project’s delivery. Project Managers coordinate all the many moving parts that make a project successful, from ideation through to completion. Project manager roles in Australia are typically advertised between $120k and $200k according to Seek (November 2021).

Project management accreditation

Bond University is the only university in Australia with programs recognised by all three of the following industry bodies including Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM), Project Management Institute Global Accreditation Centre (PIM-GAC), and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Construction accreditation

The program is accredited by the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). The program also meets the educational requirements of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) for attainment of an Open Builders License.
