Building surveyors are in high demand both locally and nationally. As one of the largest economic sectors, the construction industry seeks graduates with distinctive skills, knowledge, and practical experience across a variety of fields. Building surveyors can work within many industries dependant on experience and qualifications obtained.

Building surveyors with an obtained licence in Australia are highly sought after internationally with opportunities existing nationwide in both developed and developing countries.

Building surveyor

Building surveyors offer their clients professional support and advice on both property and construction projects from start to finish. Key functional outputs include feasibility studies, scheme designs, cost analysis, construction health and safety analysis, boundary/wall placement advice, insurance assessments.

Building surveyors can work in varying sectors by developing building codes and legislation, enforcing local building laws and stands, and certifying buildings for construction.

 

Construction surveyor

Construction surveyors provide their clients with professional critical advice for construction projects. They can provide a service to new-build properties, ensuring that the build is compliant to regulations and specifications, or existing structures assessing damage and flaws which can be used for both legal and insurance purposes.

Professional accreditation

Graduates of Bond’s Graduate Diploma in Building Surveying will be able to practise as accredited building surveyors and certifiers and will meet the requirements under the AIBS Framework for the accreditation of Building Surveyor.  

Bond’s building surveying programs have been accredited by both the AIBS and RICS thereby satisfying the educational requirements for accreditation at the level of Certifier Levels 1, 2 and 3 in Queensland. Upon gaining accreditation with the AIBS or RICS, graduates may be eligible for a licence as a building certifier with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission. When licensed, graduates may practise In Queensland as building certifiers for local government or as private certifiers.

The Building Professionals Board of NSW (BPB) will recognise graduates of the Graduate Diploma in Building Surveying as meeting the requirements of Levels A1, A2, A3 and A4 subject to ministerial approval.
