Professional biography
Michele Clark is an award-winning academic and practitioner engaged in coordinating and delivering communication and public relations subjects to undergraduates and postgraduates. She joined Bond University in January 2010 to bring professional experience developed during more than 20 years working in corporate public relations, strategic communication, and management. This diverse experience, for which she regularly received commendations, included senior management and technical roles across a broad range of corporate, government, community, and consulting organisations. She has extensive expertise in directing and managing programs, resources, people, and finance across multiple projects.
Michele actively supports volunteering in the community, not-for-profit sector. She has had a parallel volunteer career providing communication advice and expertise including securing significant grant funding for not-for-profit organisations. This is the focus of her research as a PhD candidate at the University of Queensland investigating the role of pro bono publico as a public good in public relations.
Michele’s teaching, professional, and community service have been acknowledged through many awards including Australian, university, and student awards for teaching excellence and outstanding contribution to student learning, academic excellence, and volunteer contributions to community organisations. In 2013 she was awarded a National Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning from the Australian Office of Learning and Teaching for sustained industry and community engagement bringing real examples, current events, industry experts, and authentic projects to shape students into public relations professionals.
Teaching expertise
Michele's teaching at Bond is centred on public relations theory and practice with advanced practical application through campaign planning, implementation and evaluation. Since 2015, Michele has been responsible for managing the public relations major. This includes the overall design of the major, curriculum, subjects, and developing a cohesive teaching team. Her teaching approach is centred on developing innovative curricula which embeds core skills and employability to shape Bond’s public relations students into professionals. She does this through multiple areas including; extensive industry and community engagement; and delivering authentic assessments and projects across all subjects. Michele is responsible for managing and authoring professional accreditation for four degrees in the Faculty of Society & Design.
